Weeds & Insects

Lawns provide a relaxing backdrop for family activities and other social gatherings. These green spaces require regular care and maintenance, especially during the growing season. Practicing weed control is necessary to keep your lawns looking healthy and green. While harmful insects devour roots and their blades, weeds compete with your grass for vital nutrients and water. If your lawn is unhealthy, an infestation can occur overnight and cause serious damage within days.

Proper mowing techniques, texture, pH balance and nutrients can help your lawn ward off these uninvited guests. A regular mowing and watering schedule reduces the occurrence of weeds.

There are various types of grass weeds, but the standard process for eradicating these noxious plants is similar. Lawns usually need 1 inch of water once or twice a week. Too much or too little moisture increases the risk that weeds will gain a stronghold. We use a weed control product designed for your grass species and for the type of weeds infesting your lawn.

Common Weeds
In our area, the most common weeds are dandelions, clover, thistles and ground ivy. However, there are several different types of weeds active at different times of the year. Weeds such as dandelions, clover and thistles are easily controlled with our weed control program. Weeds such as ground ivy and violets are a little more difficult to control and may need more than one application to get rid of them. We offer no charge service calls if needed in between applications to make sure these weeds stay out of your lawn.

Insects
Insect pests can diminish the health and appearance of your lawn. The insecticides we offer will control insects that feed on your grass. Patches of brown grass usually indicate the presence of insects or other lawn pests. Warm temperatures, deep thatch and debris create the perfect conditions for harmful insects. As we are applying the fertilization and weed control applications to your lawn, we inspect the grass for insects. If there are insects actively feeding on your grass, we will notify you and recommend the necessary action.
